Our Man in the Field with support from Guillem Mitchel presented by Malmesbury Acoustic Sessions

Our Man in the Field are a London-based Roots/ Americana quintet of vocals, upright bass, pedal steel, cello and drums.

Alex Ellis started out as singer/songwriter writing and performing solo in whatever London bar would have him. Partly a way to shake the 'out of work actor funk' he'd found himself in and partly to vent a rage that only living through years of Tory led, post financial crash/pre Brexit Britain can give a person (we were all feeling it long before 2016). He would soon find kindred spirits to form the band 'Our Man in the Field'.

Their music? You can't put your finger on it and maybe you don't need to anyway. It lies somewhere between indie, folk and Americana; basically just a band playing the songs that come to them about the things they were moved enough by to write down.

Fortunately the band received sufficient support and encouragement to push through the earliest 2020's and came out the other side having toured the UK and Europe several times, with many new friends, a sense of hope and a new album to boot.

Performing modern words to a vintage soundtrack, you could be forgiven for thinking you've heard Our Man The Field somewhere before. Alex Ellis records live with his band just like the best of his influences; Neil Young, Van Morrison, Credence Clearwater Revival, Ryan Adams and Wilco. His own sound is undefinable but familiar and has been compared to modern day artists such as Ray LaMontagne, Damien Rice, Foy Vance and Joe Purdy.

We're also extremely excited to be showcasing Guillem Mitchel in support. Guillem is a Catalan singer-songwriter originally from Barcelona and currently based in the South West. In his songs, vocals and lap steel guitar blend in a beautiful musical dialogue influenced by pop, folk and classical music. His intimate style is a mixture of delicacy, passion and musical craft.
